Troubleshooting Guide for Water System

Water Heater Problems

Sink Drains Slowly

Water Heater Problems

1) If the water heater doesn't light or is very hard to light

  • You need to hold the pilot light down longer.  Inevitably there is air in your gas lines and that needs to be purged before your water heater will light.  A way to release the air a little faster is to go inside your trailer and light your inside stove and let that purge the air first.
  • You may be lighting the water heater in the wrong location.  See below for the correct location.

This is the correct location for lighting the water heater.

This is the air intake - NOT where you light the water heater.

2)If the flame on the water heater is yellow instead of blue

  • This is generally caused by bugs especially spiders crawling into the burner tube and weaving a web or other insects blocking the air intake. (See above picture of the air intake.)  SOLUTION: You need to clean out the air intake.

Sink Is Draining Slowly

Check your drain hoses to make sure they are not looped. They must have continual fall, without any rise from the sink to the outlet.

This picture is an example of a hose that is trapping water. The hose needs to be straightened out so there is no rise in the hose.
